Album Review: 3Oh!3-Want

Going from Boulder, Colorado to most of the Vans Warped Tour is a huge step for any band, but for 3OH!3 it’s not shocking after tuning into their newest album Want.

During a first impression all you hear are the magnificent beats and the unique sounds that put you into an energetic mood. You get entranced into those after hearing the songs just once. Though throughout listening to the whole album a few times more you start to learn the lyrics, and thatʼs where you get caught. After hearing some of the words you turn to the internet to make sure your getting them right. Surprising enough all the lyrics this band chose are so wild they make you want to laugh, listen on and even sing along. With lines like “tell your boyfriend if he says he’s got beef, that I’m a vegetarian and I ain’t fucking scared of him” and “these children learn from cigarette burns, fast cars, fast women, and cheap drinks”  you learn to love the stuff they came up with.

Starting with the intriguing and entreating intro, to the final track, which shows a softer side of the electronic band, every song, and all the lyrics, will bring a smile to your face, one way or another. Throughout this album every beat and tone is pieced together so perfectly that you just want to get up and dance. With all 12 tracks being unique and amazing all alone the whole album will not fall flat with fans. Every song, including Chokechain and Richman, have differences and they all enchant you to come back and listen again and again.

Produced by Photo Finish Records Want is the debut album by 3OH!3. After hearing the album you will be begging for more. This disk which is full of great lyrics and tremendously pleasing sounds is worth the few dollars you have. It will spread throughout the musical world and grab person after person and cause them to lose self control of their musical choice and move on to better and greater genres. This band and this album break all molds of techno rap and defy all other genres to create something of its own.
